OK, it has been a while since my last post - and if you have been watching a while since the last soundcloud song. If you noticed these things - God bless you! I am glad that someone is paying attention and my guilt for not posting is well-founded.
As you may or may not know - I am not currently employed. I have been doing interviews with companies and reviewing ways of getting income going while simultaneously exploring self-employment. I eventually want to start my own multimedia company (not of "Entertainment 720" fame - but I would hire Jean Ralphio). Well basically a company where I do what I am good at and it gets sold in the marketplace. The avenues that I am looking at are novel-writing, music composition, and the newest: computer game programming.
Along with that sort of philosophical outlook of what I want to do in self employment, I have been busy working on trying to get it started. Many folks talk the talk and never do it. I tend to do it but never talk about it. So, now I am working on lining up my mouth and my actions (sounds wrong....). Two immediate projects that will be released soon are the first installment from Beyond the Dice and Fractals.
Beyond the Dice
Beyond the Dice is the name for my gaming music line. I will be releasing music for tabletop gaming campaigns in various genres. The first in this series will be released this summer featuring symphonic musical soundscapes. I will give a more details a little later - I am kind of trying to catch you up without boring you....all both of you :)
I am in the last stages of an album based on fractals. This would be the first album that I am releasing under my newest alias, Sean Bailey. What?! My real name? Yep. This is by far the most representative of me, my musical endeavors, and my creative process. In one album, there is a varied musical experience from electronic to jazz, to metal to classical musical styles all based at some level on an iterative compositional technique that I devised. The end product is something that I would like to call mathemusic - musical exposition of mathematical concepts.
The result: something different. That is how I like it. There are too many artists trying to sound and look like each other that if you are ever going to make a difference, a change, you have to think outside of the box. This will be as Charles Ives indicated as "stretching your ears".
That is right! The wife and I are exploring the possibilities of game production! Anyone that knew me well in high school (I think that there is only one of you) knows that I programmed games on the old TI-82 calculators. Most notably: a crude version of Mortal Kombat.
The games that we are looking at doing are RPGs that specialize in areas of historical/educational significance (might find a new market here!) as well as our collective zaniness. Currently we have an obscure secret lair with David Bowie in it. And this will be the only time that I mention that secret.
We are a ways off from finishing our first "sandbox" game where we explore game design and production, but I will keep you all posted on it.
No new Soundcloud posts?
Unfortunately, in less than a year (about half a year) I had uploaded my limit of music. There is about 2 hours of music that you can stream (FOR FREE!) on soundcloud from me. Now, I can upload more but for a cost. At the moment, I am in end production on three projects (Beyond the Dice, Fractals, and....oh yeah...Last Rites freebie) that is music that will eventually be released that I don't necessarily want on soundcloud. I also am greatly constaining expenses
HOWEVER, if you wish to donate to the soundcloud upgrade fund, feel free to send a paypal payment to:
lastriteschristianmetal (at) yahoo.com.
That is it for now! I will try to be more on top of things and not let depression get in the way of writing and getting info out toyou all.
