Hello All! Hey - is there anybody there? Anyone? There might be under all of this dust...unless the dust mites got them. Wow, what a way to go, waiting for an update on a music site from a self-absorbed, pompous...
OK let's stop there. I think that it is time for an update. Yes an update. What? I haven't thrown in the towel yet? Actually, I have MORE time to do music than I had before. Well, not 100% true, but more time than I had in the last couple of years, so it is more time to devote to getting the music out there.
So, what happened? Well, a lot happened. I got a job in South Carolina (just for reference, I started in Georgia...this might be important later) later in October of 2012. Actually that is when I got the job offer, and then I had to figure how I was going to get my family moved by the time I started work in November. Well, that in itself was a damper in trying to do anything with this site.
I'm sure that you are probably guessing that I moved successfully - well you're right! We landed in South Carolina and I got right back to work - working on a job that pays money. Along with work, I also continued my professional education so that I could be a credentialed actuary. Don't know what an actuary is? Don't worry - few do! So that meant that I had little to no time to do any music which was fine. I actually did record one song in 2013 - but that was it. And I think that it is out on Soundcloud somewhere....I'll see if I can't find it before I'm done.
Anyway - a couple of groovy points that I need to throw in there. The first is that I resurrected my 'bone playing. Trombone. Transfiguration Catholic Church in Blythewood, SC had a brass ensemble and needed a second trombone to finish off a brass quartet. Just in case that anyone there reads this, this experience was a pivotal point in my musical journey and helped me get in touch with what got me started - so thank you!
Secondly - we adopted a child from Bulgaria and spontaneously sprouted one ourselves! That means we grew by two! That was in 2014. I don't think that we will be growing in 2015...at least not in terms of people.
Anyway, during the latter part of 2014, my company got sold. The position that I was being trained for and eventually grow into suddenly would not be there and I had a choice to make. I decided to see what the market was like for an actuary. In November 2014, I got an offer to work in New Jersey. And so it was time to pack up again and this time move up through several states into a totally new climate. And as you could probably guess - it was winter while moving. A pure bred southern boy moving to the north in the middle of winter. Better be worth it...
Well, so far, I have to say that it has. Every place has its positives and negatives, and this is no different. But the one thing that has really stood out is that I now have time to devote to making quality music for the world to enjoy.
OK so that is that - This is the part where my sob story ends and I get back to business. At the moment, I don't have any announcements. That is because I'm still working on what to say. I will say this - there will be a new Last Rites album released in 2016. I am 99.9% sure that I am done recording, but I have to check a couple of other things. I have other projects in the hopper but that is the only one I know that is coming down the line. I should do a little more of an announcement later.
OK I found it! Enjoy Jam 2...
