Ah ha! Ah ha! Here is the first official release from Last Rites in three and a half years. It feels longer, almost like another lifetime ago. Well anyway, here is the first track that I am releasing for you all: Psalm 1.
This song came about when I decided that I was tired of not making music. I recently moved to New Jersey and left a very active music ministry in South Carolina. So, as a way to get back into the music writing/recording etc. I looked to the Psalms for inspiration. The lyrics were already there, I just needed to write music.
The song is rather simple. I was getting back into playing and I wanted to focus rather on making a good quality song rather than making some obscure musical statement on the unimportance of tonality (or statements of it's ilk). I wanted to support the lyrics that were divinely inspired and give musical color to it - really not much else.
As such, it is not a technical song, but an emotional piece.
Well, as I mentioned before - it is going to be a free album, so the downloads are free.
Happy start to Lent and look around for the next one next Sunday (or Saturday)!
