Sean Bailey's Fractals - Available now!
Phrygian Phish is proud to announce the release of Sean Bailey’s Fractals. This album is the first album by Sean Bailey in a realm that intersects two of his intellectual pursuits, mathematics and music, in a style that he calls mathemusic. Fractals gives a fresh and eclectic take on using fractal patterns in music through the use of a variety of musical styles, timbres, and forms.
The album consists of ten unique tracks running a total of forty-five minutes created using a fractal compositional technique devised by Bailey. Heavy Metal and Blues; Chamber, Orchestral, and Electronic Music – it is all on this one album. Each track was engineered to fit together and create a complete and cohesive work of musical art; divergent styles complementing each other.
And to top it all off, Fractals is a concept album. The album tells the story of how a young man came to save the king of Mandelbrot, a planet not unlike our own planet. The music is the perfect soundtrack for this science fiction story, a veritable labyrinth of twists and turns that keeps the reader guessing.
Fractals can be enjoyed by anyone. You don’t have to know algebra to enjoy Fractals nor do you need to compose music to understand Fractals. It is part story, part mathemusic, and an entire artistic experience. You can order your copy of Fractals now from Createspace. Fractals will also be available on Amazon as well as various other digital release sites. For samples, please visit the Fractals sample page.
Sean Bailey is the founder of Phrygian Phish, a parent organization for various other musical projects including Beyond the Dice gaming soundtracks and Last Rites, a Christian Heavy Metal project.
I hope you all enjoy!
So, what happened to the "song every week" thing. Well, it just isn't happening and it isn't due to the lack of drive. It boils down to too many projects on the dance floor - and two of them, I am sworn to secrecy. One will be out shortly, and I'll tell you when it is out, the other, I won't tell you even when it is out. But, that doesn't mean that I don't have other things that are going on that I can tell you about.
First things first. We have available for worldwide distribution - Beyond the Dice: Symphonic Soundscapes. This is a gaming soundtrack and hopefully the first in a long line of them. I developed a website specifically for Beyond the Dice, so check it out and all of the gaming goodness therein.
Secondly - The mathemusical masterpiece Fractals will be available soon. I know that there is approximately....wait...ah there it is....zero buzz on this release, so once it is available, I am going to go on the promotion trail for it. You can check out samples of the album here.
Thirdly - Last Rites is not dead. Nope - being my first serious musical project and for a cause I deeply believe in, it won't go away, at least for a while. Last Rites submitted a song for a thrash metal compilation album with Metal for a Dark World. Also in the works is a free release for 2012 including some never before released tracks - including this one:
Go on and click on it and let it roll. There is no real "video", just the picture of Jesus. As you know (or maybe not, but you will soon) I am a devout Catholic and have a particular fondness of the prayers of the church. So, I recorded a symphonic metal version of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. It is long for a song at 11 minutes, but in the middle for some devotions.
Fourthly - I am working on the second draft of my novel. Currently I am unemployed so I am trying to get an income going. One of the things that I did before I was let go was write the first draft of a novel. I let it collect dust as I wallowed in self-pity the first half of the year (and then some). Then I decided I wanted to give this a good shot - the writing thing. I am hoping to have the novel done by the end of the year. So, stay tuned for that. Real quick synopsis: two dudes dropped off in the woods in Georgia and have to hitchhike back to Los Angeles.
I think that is everything at Phrygian Phish for y'all! I am working on the shop area. Right now, everything is available at CD baby so i'll put the links up for you all so you can get some of that musical goodness.
